Getting Started

Route: Load a GPX, TCX, KML, or FIT file, or paste a public Ride with GPS route link (use the “Share” button on RWGPS, include the privacy_code for Private Routes)
Ride Plan: Set your date, start time and pace to see forecasted wind and weather along the route.
Full weather forecast will be provided based on the nearest city but you can also search for a location
On the full weather forecast, day cards indicate good riding days (shaded in green)

Ride times allow ~3 minutes per hour of stops (lights, crossings, etc.), which lowers effective pace versus raw moving speed.

Wind display options

Apply after analysis; toggles update the map and wind chart immediately.

Map: speed colour scale (met-style 0–60 km/h gradient, see bar below), shaft on arrows, black when wind speed or direction shifts sharply vs previous point. Wind chart always uses the same speed colours. Wind chart: show direction labels (e.g. → ESE) at each sample

Legend

Wind: arrow + shaft show where wind blows toward. Colours follow speed (see scale under Wind display options); black marks a sharp change vs the previous sample.
After analysis, the route line uses the same temperature colours as the temp chart (0°C cool → 36°C hot) along your distance.
Start (green play) and finish (checkered flag) markers on the map.
Rain / significant precip likely at arrival time.
Thunderstorm code (WMO) at that hour.

Weather codes follow WMO codes used by Open-Meteo (same family as many forecasts). Examples: 0 clear, 45 fog, 51–55 drizzle, 61–65 rain, 80–82 rain showers, 95+ thunderstorm. Open-Meteo docs list the full table.

Weather data (10-day place + route analysis)

Route analysis always uses Open-Meteo at sample points. The place forecast panel follows this menu where supported; if your primary choice fails, the app may fall back (e.g. NWS → Open-Meteo, Open-Meteo → NWS in the US, or WU proxy → Open-Meteo on errors).

10-day forecast (place)

Hourly and daily outlook for one spot on the map (route analysis still samples weather all along your path). Source matches Weather data in the sidebar. With no route loaded, the place forecast uses approximate IP location; after you load a route it updates to the nearest town to the length-weighted center of the path (where most of the distance lies). Search anytime to override.

Ride weather vs time

Wind, temperature, rain, and sunshine charts use time during your ride (start time, moving average speed, plus ~3 min/hr stop allowance). Open-Meteo hourly values are matched at each sample. The elevation profile uses distance (km) on the horizontal axis.

Run Analyze weather along route to see wind, temperature, feels-like, precipitation, elevation profile, and sunshine.
